[05-24-2022] Trinity County, CA - 75-Year-Old Seriously Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash Along SR-299A 75-year-old man identified as Jaques L. sustained major injuries in a hit-and-run crash in Salyer on Tuesday, May 24, 2022.

According to a California Highway Patrol press release, the collision occurred around 3:10 p.m. on Highway 299 in front of the Salyer Store.

A Toyota driver failed to yield to the motorcyclist while traveling westbound on SR-299 when turning left into the Salyer Store parking lot.

According to CHP, Loren applied the brakes but was ejected from the bike after colliding with the right side of the Toyota.

According to officials, Loren was taken to a Humboldt County hospital with serious injuries.

CHP officers from Willow Creek reported that the driver had fled the scene of the accident before they arrived.

The Toyota driver was seen exiting his vehicle and getting into a white Toyota FJ Cruiser heading eastbound after the collision.

The Trinity River Area officers are still investigating the crash.
