[06-01-2022] Merced County, CA - DUI Crash in Dos Palos Kills Two PeopleTwo people were killed following a deadly crash involving a suspected DUI driver in Dos Palos on Wednesday afternoon, June 1, 2022.

The fatal traffic crash transpired at approximately 4:00 p.m. on Highway 33 at Cypress Road in Dos Palos.

A southbound 2004 Hyundai was traveling on Cypress when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a power pole.

The vehicle then caught fire following the crash. The driver was able to escape the vehicle but two of his passengers were unable to make their way out. Both of the trapped passengers were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities determined that the Hyundai driver was under the influence at the time of the crash. The driver was identified as Jesus G. He was arrested for gross vehicular manslaughter and DUI-related charges.

Local authorities are further investigating the case.
