[07-03-2023] Woman Killed, Man Injured Following Fatal Solo-Vehicle Crash in OxnardA woman was killed, while a man was injured after being ejected from their vehicle in a solo-vehicle crash in Oxnard on Monday morning, July 3, 2023.

According to Oxnard Police Department Cmdr. Luis M., the incident occurred on Ventura Road, South of Devonshire Drive, at around 2:00 a.m.

A 1998 Ford Escort sedan was reported to have crashed into an electrical pole while driving southbound at a high rate of speed. When officers arrived at the scene, it was found that the vehicle’s two occupants were ejected in the collision.

A 37-year-old female passenger did not survive the ordeal and died at Ventura County Medical Center, while the 38-year-old male driver sustained critical injuries and is being treated at the same facility.

They were both Oxnard residents. No other information was released regarding the identities of the people involved, pending an investigation.

Speed and reckless driving are believed to be factors contributing to this incident.
