According to the Oxnard Police Department, the incident occurred in the 2800 block of East Vineyard Avenue, near the cross with Stroube Street, shortly before 11:25 p.m.

Authorities stated that the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in the El Rio neighborhood, and the driver of the vehicle fled the scene.

Officials said the victim suffered critical injuries and was transported to Ventura County Medical Center via ambulance.
