[09-02-2022] San Diego County, CA – Pedestrian Dead After Being Struck by Truck in Park West

According to the San Diego police department, the driver of a rental truck traveling at high speeds hit a pedestrian, resulting in his death in the Park West neighborhood Sunday night, October 2, 2022.

According to the authorities, the collision occurred shortly after 10:00 p.m. in the Park West neighborhood on Fifth Avenue near Elm Street.

On Fifth Avenue north of Elm Street, a 30-year-old man driving a Penske truck swerved to the right and sideswiped a parked car.

Police say the truck crossed the buffer curb, hit a man sitting there, and crashed into a building on the east side of Fifth Avenue.

Nobody knows the pedestrian’s age or identity because of the circumstances.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver was taken to the hospital with serious facial injuries, according to the police.

The officers from the Traffic Division are looking into the crash where alcohol is suspected of having played a role. There was a complete lack of information concerning the incident.
