[11-11-2022] Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Vehicle in Santa BarbaraThe California Highway Patrol reported a man killed in a traffic collision in Santa Barbara in the early morning of Friday, November 11, 2022.

According to the CHP, the crash transpired at 1:50 a.m. on the northbound side of Highway 101, between the entrances of Patterson and Fairview Avenue.

The report stated that the pedestrian was crossing the highway when he was struck by an oncoming car. The responders declared the man dead on the spot.

The area will continue to be off-limits for the next two hours, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

According to Caltrans, one mile north of the interchange with State Route 217 was closed because of the collision. By 7:12 a.m., all lanes were reopened.

The death will be looked into by CHP.
