[12-08-2022] Police Officer Struck and Killed Two Pedestrians on Interstate 5An on-duty police detective fatally struck two pedestrians standing near a pickup truck in Sacramento on Tuesday morning, December 8, 2022.

According to reports, the deadly collision transpired around 6:15 a.m. on Interstate 5.

Authorities state that the officer drove an unmarked Ford Fusion, traveling southbound when it collided with a white Dodge pickup truck stopped on the right shoulder just south of Sutterville Road.

After hitting the Dodge’s left rear end, the Ford struck two people on the driver’s side.

Paramedics were called and pronounced one person dead on the scene, while the second died on the way to the hospital.

Meanwhile, the detective involved in the crash was not injured.

The collision is still being investigated, but no further details have been released.
