[12-11-2022] Solo Car Crash in Mountain Ranch Kills Passenger and Injures DriverAuthorities said one person was killed and another was injured in a solo car crash in Mountain Ranch, Calaveras County, on Sunday afternoon, December 11, 2022.

According to the California Highway Patrol San Andreas office, the fatal crash occurred at 12:47 p.m. on Railroad Flat Road, close to Sheep Ranch Road.

31-year-old Kaili G. from Antioch was traveling in a gray 2007 Chevy Impala southbound on Railroad Flat with a 43-year-old male passenger from Mokelumne Hill, whose identity was not released.

Their car went off the road for reasons under investigation, smashed into a fence, flipped over, and hit a tree, inflicting severe damage to the vehicle and trapping the occupants inside.

Both occupants were extricated from the car by first responders. After sustaining major injuries, the driver was taken to Modesto Memorial Hospital, while the passenger was transported to Lodi Memorial Hospital, where he would later die.

The two of them were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. CHP also said it rained in the area then, and neither alcohol nor drugs played a role. No one has been detained while the investigation by the authorities continued.
