[12-12-2021] Napa County, CA – DUI Crash at Big Ranch Road and El Centro Avenue Seriously Injures a 69-Year-Old Man

A 69-year-old man named Gregory S. was seriously hurt after a DUI crash at Big Ranch Road and El Centro Avenue on Sunday night, December 12, 2021.

[12-12-2021] Napa County, CA - DUI Crash at Big Ranch Road and El Centro Avenue Seriously Injures a 69-Year-Old ManThe accident transpired at approximately 8:42 p.m. at the intersection of Big Ranch Road and El Centro Avenue.

A southbound Toyota Prius was traveling on Big Ranch Road when the driver stopped for a Chevrolet Silverado backing out of a driveway. Unfortunately, a southbound Jeep Cherokee was unable to stop in time and struck the back of the Toyota.

Due to the severity of the impact, the Toyota veered into a ditch while the Jeep continued forward and struck the Chevrolet.

The 69-year-old Toyota driver sustained major injuries in the crash and was immediately taken to Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center.

Local authorities later determined that the Jeep Cherokee driver was under the influence at the time of the crash. He was identified as 33-year-old Essai J. He was arrested and booked at the Napa County jail on suspicion of DUI after receiving treatment for his minor injuries.

An active investigation of the accident is currently underway.
