Two people were injured after a motorcycle crash on the northeast side of Yountville on Friday afternoon, October 29.
The crash transpired at approximately 2:27 p.m. on the Silverado Trail, just south of Yountville Cross Road. A 2017 Tesla Model S sedan was traveling northbound on the Silverado Trail when the driver slowed down and stopped on the east shoulder.
The Tesla driver then pulled out of the should and tried to make a U-turn, but unfortunately, the driver failed to yield the right of way to an oncoming Harley-Davidson Road Glide. The motorcycle rider attempted to swerve left in an attempt to avoid the collision.
Unfortunately, the motorcycle rider and his passenger were ejected from their Harley. Meanwhile, their motorcycle continued to slide down the pavement before hitting the left side of the Tesla. The two people riding the motorcycle sustained severe injuries in the crash.
They were identified as Steven B. and Donna B. The two injured parties were transported to different hospitals for treatment. The Tesla driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
He was uninjured in the mishap. Local authorities are further investigating the cause of the accident.

As a result, motorcycles lack many necessary safety features like airbags, safety belts, and steel frames to keep riders safe in the event of an accident.
