[10-16-2020] Riverside County, CA – One Man Killed After a Fatal Homeland Pedestrian Accident

An unidentified 35-year-old Hemet male resident was killed after getting struck by a vehicle in Homeland on early Friday morning, October 16.

According to the California Highway Patrol’s initial reports, the deadly accident happened around midnight on Highway 74, just east of Sultanas Road.

The pedestrian was attempting to cross the highway when an eastbound 2014 Chevrolet Cruze suddenly struck him. The victim was walking outside of a marked crosswalk at the time of the accident. The crash scene was described to be dark and had no street lights. The paramedics later arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

It is unknown whether speeding played a role in the accident. The driver that struck the victim was identified as a 19-year-old Hemet woman. She remained at the scene, called 911, and cooperated with local authorities.
