[01-21-2023] Multi-Vehicle Collision in Mid-City Kills One, Injures Two MoreOne person was killed and two more were hospitalized in critical condition following a multi-vehicle collision in Los Angeles on Saturday morning, January 21, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal collision occurred at around 5:40 a.m. along the eastbound Santa Monica (10) Freeway at Crenshaw Boulevard in Mid-City near the Jefferson Park neighborhood.

At least five vehicles were reportedly involved, with Los Angeles Fire Department claiming two cars overturned and CHP reporting only one flipped over. The circumstances leading to the crash remain under investigation.

One individual died in the collision, while two other people sustained critical injuries. They were sent to a nearby hospital in an unknown state. The number of people involved remains currently unclear.

The fatal crash resulted in the closure of the eastbound lanes of 10 Freeway, east of Crenshaw Blvd., for at least four hours, with the traffic being diverted to the highway’s shoulder.
The investigation into the collision by the authorities continued.
