[04-18-2022] Los Angeles County, CA - Five People Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash in HollywoodAccording to the Los Angeles Fire Department, a multi-vehicle crash injured up to five people in Hollywood on Monday, April 18, 2022.

The crash occurred at about 1:16 a.m. in the area of Western Avenue and Franklin Street.

The chase started at Franklin Street and Highland Avenue and lasted about a mile and a half.

The chase began when officers from the Los Angeles Police Department ran the plates of a white Mercedes and discovered they were from another vehicle, leading them to believe the car was stolen.

The Mercedes blew through a red light and collided with two other vehicles in the intersection, including a Los Angeles Department of Water and Power work truck.

Despite the deployment of an airbag in the vehicle, the man driving that work truck appeared to be conscious and alert.

The LADWP has yet to disclose the employee’s condition.

Following the collision, one man was seen fleeing the totaled Mercedes-Benz SUV, with police on foot pursuing him.

Officers apprehended the man and took him into custody, where he could face charges of felony eluding the police, firearm possession, and possibly driving a stolen vehicle.

Following the collision, a handgun was discovered in the Mercedes.

One passenger in the SUV was critically injured, according to the LAPD. According to previous LAPD reports, there were two passengers.

The car’s passengers were all taken to the hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
