[05-09-2023] 65-Year-Old Passenger Died After Multi-Vehicle Collision on 210 FreewayA 65-year-old passenger died in a multi-vehicle crash on Foothill 210 Freeway, Los Angeles, on Tuesday afternoon, May 9, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at 2:47 p.m. on Westbound 210, west of Briggs Avenue.

The preliminary investigation determined that a 2006 Honda Accord in the No. 4 Lane lost control, causing it to collide with a 2023 Freightliner tractor-trailer combination and a 2017 Freightliner tractor-trailer combination.

Tragically, the elderly passenger in the front seat of the Honda sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the accident scene. The Honda driver was transported to Huntington Hospital for assessment of damages. The Freightliner drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

The collision prompted a response from the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The driver and the Honda’s deceased passenger were Canyon Country residents. The 38-year-old driver of the 2023 Freightliner hailed from Mendota, California, whereas the 37-year-old driver of the 2017 Freightliner was from Coalinga, California.

CHP shut down lanes on the westbound 210 Freeway for three hours and issued Sigalert. The initial report of a vehicle pursuit turns out to be unrelated.
