[03-28-2025] Sonoma County, CA – Bicyclist Fatally Injured in Vehicle Collision in Petaluma

A bicyclist was killed after being involved in a traffic collision with a vehicle in Petaluma, Sonoma County, on Wednesday afternoon, March 28, 2025.

The Petaluma Police Department reported that they began receiving calls about the crash at around 3:00 p.m. at the intersection of South Ely Boulevard and Capistrano Drive.

When officers arrived at the scene, they determined that the bicyclist had died from his injuries.

Police stated that both the bicyclist and the driver of the vehicle were traveling northbound on South Ely Boulevard at the time of the collision. Both individuals were identified as male, though their ages were not disclosed.

The bicyclist’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities indicated that drugs or alcohol did not appear to have contributed to the collision. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The Petaluma Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
