[03-28-2026] San Mateo County, CA – Man and Child Injured After Being Struck By Car on N. Delaware St.

A man and a child were injured after being struck by a car while crossing the street in San Mateo on Saturday evening, March 28, 2026.

According to San Mateo Police, the incident occurred around 7:36 p.m. at the intersection of N. Delaware Street and State Street, near San Mateo High School.

The pedestrians were crossing when a northbound car on N. Delaware Street struck them. The man sustained moderate head injuries, while the child suffered minor injuries. Both were conscious and alert when transported to the hospital for further treatment.

Police have not yet determined the primary factor for the collision, though field sobriety tests showed no signs of impairment by drugs or alcohol on the part of the driver.

The investigation is ongoing.
