A pedestrian, identified as 37-year-old Hughie S., was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 18 in the Town of Apple Valley in San Bernardino County on Sunday night, January 18, 2026.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the crash was reported around 10:54 p.m. near the intersection of Apple Valley Road.
Officials stated that the collision involved a gray 2015 Nissan Altima driven by a 21-year-old man from Victorville. Investigators said the vehicle was traveling eastbound in the No. 2 lane of Highway 18 when it struck the pedestrian.
The pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities reported that the driver remained at the location and cooperated with investigators. Law enforcement indicated that drugs and alcohol were not believed to be contributing factors.
The incident remains under investigation.
