A woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Pelandale Avenue in Modesto on Friday evening, February 20, 2026.
According to Modesto police, officers responded at 6:30 p.m. to the area of Pelandale Avenue just west of Prescott Road.
Investigators said the woman had been walking along a canal and attempted to cross Pelandale Avenue when she was hit by a vehicle.
The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Police said both the driver and the victim are from Modesto, and DUI does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
