A man was struck and killed by a vehicle after exiting a crashed car late Saturday night in southwest Bakersfield on June 7, 2025.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the incident occurred around 11:14 p.m. near the intersection of Old River Road and White Oak Drive.
A silver Infiniti coupe had been traveling southbound when it veered off the roadway and collided with a tree on the median.
One person from the Infiniti exited the disabled vehicle and entered the southbound lanes of Old River Road, where he was struck by a blue Honda sedan traveling in the same direction.
Officers arrived to find the man deceased at the scene. The driver of the Honda remained at the location and cooperated with the investigation. Authorities stated that impairment was not a factor for the Honda driver.
The incident remains under investigation.
