[07-02-2025] Los Angeles County, CA – Three Injured, One Critically, in Multi-Vehicle Crash on 405 Freeway Near Getty Center Off-Ramp

Three people sustained injuries, including one reported amputation, following a collision involving a tanker truck on the 405 Freeway in Brentwood, Los Angeles County, early Wednesday morning, July 2, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 2:15 a.m. on the southbound 405 Freeway at the Getty Center off-ramp. The incident involved a white utility truck, a gray Jeep, and a semi-truck that collided and blocked multiple lanes.

The Los Angeles Fire Department stated that one of the victims, a 53-year-old man, reportedly lost a leg in the crash. Two other victims, a 59-year-old man and a 34-year-old man, were also transported to local hospitals in serious condition. Both were reportedly able to walk before being taken by ambulance.

The CHP continues to investigate the cause of the collision.

In 2021, crashes involving large trucks caused 5,788 deaths and about 154,993 injuries in the United States. There were an estimated 523,796 police-reported crashes that year involving large trucks. Compared to 2020, fatalities rose by 17 percent, showing a noticeable increase in deadly collisions.

The number of nonoccupants who were injured increased by 16 percent, injuries to people in other vehicles rose by 13 percent, and injuries to people inside the trucks increased slightly by 1 percent.
