Steps To Take After A Car Accident In San Bernardino County, CA

Crashes involving fire, vehicle rollovers, or multiple injuries can be overwhelming and life-changing. Taking the right steps after a serious collision may help protect your health, clarify what happened, and support any future legal claims.

  1. Get Medical Help As Soon As Possible
If you were injured, prioritize medical attention right away. Some injuries may be internal or delayed in appearance. A full medical evaluation helps document your condition and connects the injuries to the crash.
  2. Request The Official Accident Report
Law enforcement agencies, such as the California Highway Patrol, usually create detailed reports for serious collisions. This document may include key facts about the vehicles involved, witness statements, and early findings about the cause of the crash.
  3. Save Photos And Other Information
If you or someone with you took pictures of the vehicles, roadway, injuries, or emergency response, keep those images in a secure place. Store any paperwork or instructions given by first responders, hospital staff, or law enforcement.
  4. Track Expenses Related To The Crash
Maintain records of hospital visits, prescriptions, follow-up appointments, lost income, and any other costs tied to the incident. These records may be helpful if you decide to seek compensation for your injuries.
  5. Speak With A Car Accident Lawyer
An experienced attorney can help you understand your rights and explain what options may be available. Legal support can also help with gathering evidence, working with insurance, and seeking fair financial recovery.
