Two people sustained major injuries in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 1 near Panther Beach in Davenport, Santa Cruz County, on Thursday afternoon, August 21, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 4:00 p.m. and involved two vehicles.

Authorities confirmed that the individuals hurt were breathing and conscious at the scene. Both northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 1 were closed following the crash but reopened at around 5:00 p.m.
