[10-04-2025] Santa Clara County, CA – Bicyclist Killed in Collision with Mercedes-Benz on Foothill Expressway in Palo Alto

A bicyclist in his 80s died from severe head injuries after being struck by a Mercedes-Benz sedan on Foothill Expressway in Palo Alto on October 4, 2025.

According to police, the crash occurred around 12:18 p.m. in the 3400 block of Foothill Expressway. The cyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was riding south in the dedicated bike lane when he entered into the southbound traffic lanes and collided with the 2022 Mercedes-Benz. The impact threw the cyclist from his bike, resulting in a major head injury.

The driver of the Mercedes-Benz remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. No signs of drugs or alcohol were found to be factors in the collision.

The cyclist was transported to a hospital but died from his injuries on Wednesday. Authorities are continuing to investigate the collision.
