[10-14-2026] San Joaquin County, CA – Injuries Reported in Fiery Multi-Vehicle Collision Involving Big Rig North of Stockton

Injuries were reported after a fiery four-vehicle crash on northbound Interstate 5 north of Stockton on Wednesday morning, October 14, 2026.

According to California Highway Patrol logs, the collision was reported at around 5:34 a.m. at the Highway 12 off-ramp.

CHP confirmed that four vehicles were involved, including a big rig. Authorities said everyone involved was able to walk away.

The crash caused heavy congestion, with Caltrans’ traffic map showing backups between Highway 12 and Hammer Lane at around 7:00 a.m. CHP issued a SigAlert warning of extended closures or delays.

Caltrans reported that the No. 1 and No. 2 lanes reopened by 8:25 a.m., while the No. 3 lane remained closed without an estimated reopening time.

A CHP officer said a lane-change issue may have contributed, but the cause had not been confirmed.

The investigation remains ongoing.
