Truck Accident Statistics
Large trucks are essential for moving goods across the country, but their size and weight often make crashes involving them much more severe. In 2023, an estimated 5,375 fatal crashes involving large trucks occurred across the United States. This represents an 8.4 percent decrease from 2022.
Although this recent decline shows some short-term progress, the long-term trend tells a different story. Fatal crashes involving large trucks have increased by 43% over the past decade. These figures clearly indicate that large truck collisions remain a significant safety concern on roadways nationwide.
