[10-09-2025] Sacramento County, CA โ€“ One Dead, Two Seriously Injured After Hyundai Tucson Crashes and Overturns Near Watt Avenue and La Riviera Drive in La Riviera

One man was killed and two people sustained major injuries after a Hyundai Tucson crashed and overturned in a parking lot in La Riviera, Sacramento County, on Thursday afternoon, October 9, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 2:08 p.m. near the intersection of Watt Avenue and La Riviera Drive.

The Hyundai was traveling eastbound on La Riviera Drive when it left the roadway at a high rate of speed, struck a tree, overturned into a parking lot, and hit a metal fence. Sacramento Metropolitan Fire personnel extricated some of the vehicle occupants. The driver died in the crash, while a female and male passenger were transported to a local hospital with major injuries. The identity of the deceased has not been released.

Authorities have not yet determined whether DUI or a medical emergency contributed to the collision. The parking lot sustained damage from the crash.
