A bicyclist was killed after being struck by a Lexus on southbound Interstate 5 in Stockton on Tuesday morning, May 14, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash occurred around 3:00 a.m. on I-5 north of Hammer Lane.
The bicyclist was riding in the #1 lane when a Lexus traveling behind him in the same lane, at an estimated speed of 75 mph, struck him. The bicyclist died at the scene.
The driver pulled over to the right shoulder and remained at the scene. CHP officials reported that drugs or alcohol are being considered as a factor in the collision, though no arrests have been made.
The accident is under investigation.
