[12-05-2025] Monterey County, CA – Bicyclist Dies After Head-On Collision on 17 Mile Drive in Del Monte Forest

A 66-year-old man riding a bicycle was killed in a head-on collision in Del Monte Forest, Monterey County, on Friday morning, December 5, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 9:17 a.m. on 17 Mile Drive.

CHP said a 62-year-old woman from Pebble Beach was driving a black Toyota SUV southbound on 17 Mile Drive and attempting to turn left onto Crespi Lane when the crash occurred. At the same time, the bicyclist was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane for reasons that remain under investigation.

Firefighters responded and attempted life-saving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman driving the SUV was transported to a hospital for possible injuries.

Authorities indicated that drugs or alcohol were not believed to have contributed to the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
