[03-21-2026] Kern County, CA – Motorcyclist Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 99 in Bakersfield

A motorcyclist was killed in a multi-vehicle crash in Bakersfield Saturday night, March 21, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to the crash at around 9:25 p.m. on the northbound lanes of Highway 99 near the Ming Avenue off-ramp.

A 39-year-old man was riding a motorcycle northbound on Highway 99 toward the transition to westbound Highway 58 when a 36-year-old man driving a Chevrolet Tahoe crossed the dividing line between the transition road and the on-ramp lanes.

The motorcyclist collided with the left side of the Chevrolet, was ejected from the motorcycle, and was subsequently struck by oncoming traffic.

The rider sustained major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities stated that impairment did not appear to be a factor in the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.
