[08-20-2026] San Diego County, CA – 61-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck By Vehicle in El Cerrito

A 61-year-old man was killed after being struck by a vehicle in San Diego’s El Cerrito neighborhood on Thursday night, August 20, 2026.

According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred around 8:43 p.m. in the 6000 block of El Cajon Boulevard.

Police said the pedestrian was walking westbound in the second lane of El Cajon Boulevard while pushing a shopping cart when he was struck by a westbound 2018 Honda Civic driven by a 28-year-old man.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released his identity pending notification of his family.

Investigators determined that driving under the influence was not a factor in the collision.

The San Diego Police Department continues to investigate the fatal crash.
