[01-04-2026] Los Angeles County, CA – Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck at San Pedro and 83rd Streets

A 65-year-old man was killed after being struck by a vehicle while walking across a street in the Florence area of Los Angeles on Sunday evening, January 4, 2026.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the crash was reported at approximately 5:49 p.m. at San Pedro and 83rd streets.

Authorities said a vehicle traveling northbound on San Pedro Street struck the pedestrian as he was walking westbound within a marked crosswalk. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the driver remained at the scene following the collision. The pedestrian’s identity has not been released pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
