[01-22-2026] San Diego County, CA – Woman Killed After Being Struck by Vehicle on Moss St. in Chula Vista

A woman in her late 50s was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Chula Vista on Thursday evening, January 22, 2026.

According to the Chula Vista Police Department, the collision was reported shortly before 6:00 p.m. in the 500 block of Moss Street.

Responding officers found the pedestrian, a Chula Vista resident, lying in the roadway with severe injuries and unresponsive.

Emergency crews from police and fire departments administered lifesaving aid before transporting the victim to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Authorities stated that the involved driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. The identities of both the driver and the victim are being withheld out of respect for their privacy.

The cause of the crash has not yet been determined, though investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors.

The investigation remains ongoing.
