[01-31-2023] Several People Injured and 28-Year-Old Killed After Bus Collision in MenifeeA bus collision involving another vehicle fatally struck a 28-year-old, identified as Mauricio M., and injured several people in Menifee on Tuesday afternoon, January 31, 2023.

Authorities confirmed that the crash transpired around 3:15 p.m. at the intersection of Ethanac and Matthews roads.

According to reports, the victim was driving a Ford Mustang west on Matthews, where witnesses saw him shifting between traffic lanes as he approached the intersection, apparently to avoid slower vehicles.

A Riverside Transit Agency bus carrying an unspecified number of passengers was traveling eastbound on Matthews when the Mustang appeared in front of it.

The bus driver could not avoid the Mustang’s path, which caused both vehicles to collide.

Paramedics immediately responded and pronounced the 28-year-old driver dead at the scene. He was the only occupant inside.

Meanwhile, several RTA bus passengers sustained minor to moderate injuries.

The victims were treated on the spot, while others were transported to a regional trauma center for further treatment.

The crash is still being investigated.
