[02-03-2023] Riverside County, CA- Hit-And-Run Collision in Jurupa Valley Killed One Person, Another Injured

One driver was killed and another injured following a hit-and-run collision in Jurupa Valley early Friday morning, February 3, 2023.

Reports indicated that the fatal crash occurred around 1:30 a.m. on the westbound Pomona Freeway, just east of Valley Way.

According to authorities, a big rig sideswiped a Mini Cooper, which collided with a Honda Civic.

As a result, the Honda driver spun into the center divider as the Mini Cooper driver immediately pulled to the freeway’s right shoulder. The big rig immediately fled the scene.

As the two drivers approached the shoulder of the freeway, a GMC pickup hit the Mini Cooper driver, grazing the Honda driver with its passenger side mirror.

The Mini Cooper crossed to the center divider to meet the other vehicle. They traveled back over the freeway’s shoulder.

The victims, who were not immediately identified, appeared to be independently trying to handle the non-injury accident.

The pickup driver pulled over and made a 911 call. It did not appear that he was injured.

Paramedics arrived shortly and pronounced the Mini Cooper driver dead at the scene.

The Honda driver sustained minor injuries, but no hospitalization was required.

While conducting a preliminary investigation, officers blocked off the entire westbound side of the freeway until just after 6:00 a.m.

Investigators are still seeking the truck.
