Train Collision Statistics

According to the National Transportation Safety Board, train accidents are more likely to cause pedestrian deaths than automobile accidents. Faulty warning systems, outdated safety equipment, and hazardous crossings cause most fatal train accidents.

It is estimated that one person or car is involved in a collision with a train every two hours. A train accident kills more than a thousand people every year. This resulted in 600 deaths and approximately 2,300 injuries.

Taking the train is the best way to travel. It is essential to consider how conductors’ abilities and the frequency of repairs impact the safety of employees and passengers. Passengers are put at risk due to their negligence or shortcuts that are not appropriate.

US train accidents have claimed over 7,200 lives since 1997. Trains striking pedestrians are the leading cause of death on American railroads, outpacing all other factors.

Derailments, worn-out tracks, disregard for safety regulations, lax security, and other factors frequently cause rail accidents.
