Three police officers from the Los Angeles Police Department were injured following a two-vehicle collision near Figueroa Street on early Sunday morning, February 13, 2022.
The accident transpired at approximately 3:24 a.m. on Interstate 5 Freeway near Figueroa Street.
A speeding vehicle traveling at 100 mph crashed into the officers’ patrol car. The driver of the speeding vehicle did not stop to render aid and drove away from the scene.
One officer had to be extricated from the wreckage. Three officers were seriously injured in the mishap. They were all taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Authorities were later able to apprehend the suspect. They took the driver and his two other female passengers into custody. The suspect is facing hit-and-run and DUI-related charges.
The California Highway Patrol and the LAPD are further investigating the case.
