[02-19-2023] Lake County, CA – Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Vehicle in Lakeport

[02-19-2023] Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Vehicle in LakeportAuthorities reported that a pedestrian was killed after being hit by a vehicle in Lakeport on Sunday evening, February 19, 2023.

According to the Lakeport Police Department, the deadly crash occurred around 7:00 p.m. on Eleventh Street near North Street.

A police officer was eastbound on 11th Street when they saw a beige 2002 Chevy Tahoe strike a person who was walking on the road west on 11th.

The officer promptly called for emergency medical assistance and blocked 11th Street’s westbound lane with their patrol car. The pedestrian, however, was pronounced dead even after lifesaving efforts. The next of kin will be notified before the identity is released.

It was determined that the driver of the Tahoe was not under the influence of alcohol and drugs during the crash. The motorist, though, was determined to have been driving unsafely.

A coroner’s investigation, including a toxicology test, will determine whether alcohol or drugs played a role on the deceased pedestrian’s part.
