[02-22-2026] Santa Barbara County, CA – Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in Santa Maria

A 46-year-old woman from Nipomo was killed after being struck by a vehicle in northwest Santa Maria on Saturday night, February 21, 2026.

According to the Santa Maria Police Department, officers responded just before midnight to the intersection of Bunny Avenue and Blosser Road.

Personnel from the Santa Maria Fire Department rendered aid, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of relatives.

Police said the driver fled immediately after the incident.

Officers later located the suspect vehicle and arrested a 30-year-old Santa Maria man, whose name has not been released. He was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail on multiple felony charges.

The investigation remains ongoing.
