A 2-year-old child was killed, and their mother was injured after being struck by a vehicle in the Mission Rock section of San Francisco on Friday night, February 27, 2026.
According to the San Francisco Police Department, officers responded at around 8:55 p.m. to the area of 4th Street and Channel Streets.
Both pedestrians were transported to a local hospital, where the child was pronounced dead. The adult sustained non-life-threatening injuries and received treatment.
Police stated that the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Authorities also said that alcohol and drugs did not appear to be factors in the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing.
