A driver was injured following a bus vs. vehicle collision near Chico on Friday evening, March 1, 2024.

According to Cal Fire, the collision occurred around 7:15 p.m. along Highway 32 near Muir Avenue.

Reports indicate that a sedan and a B Line bus were found at the scene. The sedan driver suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a hospital.

It is currently unclear how many people were involved or if any others were injured. The authorities have not released further information about the collision.

According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), 5,904 fatalities involved large trucks and buses in 2021, an 18% increase from 2020. There were 119,000 injuries recorded in the same year.

These fatalities specifically involved 80 school buses, 17 intercity buses, and 78 transit buses. Half of the vehicles were used for transporting students to and from school, while the other half carried commuters to and from work.
