Steps To Take After A Pedestrian Accident In Bakersfield, CA

Knowing the right steps to take after a pedestrian accident is essential for protecting your health, legal rights, and ability to recover compensation. Our legal team advises taking the following actions:

  1. Ensure Safety First — If you or anyone else is injured, call 911 immediately. If possible, move to a safe location away from traffic to avoid further danger.
  2. Report The Accident — Contact law enforcement as soon as possible. A police report will be crucial evidence when filing an injury claim.
  3. Get Medical Attention — Even if you feel fine, visit a doctor. Some injuries, like internal trauma, may not be immediately noticeable. Medical records will also support your case.
  4. Gather Evidence — If you’re able, take photos of the accident scene, your injuries, and any property damage. Exchange contact and insurance details with the driver and collect witness statements if possible.
  5. Consult A Pedestrian Accident Attorney — Before speaking with insurance companies, talk to an attorney. Insurers often try to minimize payouts, but our skilled pedestrian accident attorneys in Bakersfield will fight to protect your rights and secure the full compensation you deserve.
