According to the Winters Police Department, the crash that injured the foot of the child occurred just before 6:00 p.m. along Abbey Street.

While being watched over by a parent, the child suddenly ran between two parked cars and into the roadway, directly into the path of an approaching vehicle.

According to witnesses, the car was moving at modest to normal rates and was probably oblivious to what had happened. Officers scoured the area for the car, a grey Honda Civic or a blue Audi SUV, but were unsuccessful in finding it.

The boy was sent to a nearby hospital as a precaution despite what seemed to be minor scratches and scrapes on his body.
