[04-06-2023] Motorcycle vs. Vehicle Crash in Fontana Killed One Man, Injured WomanA man was killed while a woman was injured after a collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle in Fontana on Thursday morning, April 6, 2023.

According to the Fontana Police Department, the fatal collision occurred around 7:07 a.m. at the Baseline Avenue and Palmetto Avenue intersection.

A silver 2011 Harley Davidson MC driven by a 57-year-old man from Eastvale was heading east on Baseline, while a white 2010 Chrysler 300 driven by a 34-year-old woman from Fontana was heading north on Palmetto.

The woman came to a halt at the stop sign before proceeding through the intersection and continuing north on Palmetto when the motorcyclist hit the side of the woman’s car. The impact ejected the man onto the road.

The rider was given medical care by San Bernardino County fire/medics, but he passed away from his wounds. The County Sheriff Coroner’s Division later identified him as John D.

The woman complained of neck pain, and an ambulance took her to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in an unknown condition.

For several hours, the traffic in the area was obstructed. The investigation into the crash continues.

Fatal Motorcycle Accident Statistics

According to data published by the National Safety Council, motorcycle accidents accounted for 14% of all road fatalities in 2020, 18% of occupant deaths, and 4% of occupant injuries.
