One unidentified man was killed as he was changing tires on State Route 54 on Thursday evening, April 7, 2022.
The deadly accident took place on State Route 54, east of Highland Avenue, at approximately 5:50 p.m.
The victim was initially driving a Toyota Scion when he experienced problems with his vehicle. He then parked it along SR 54.
The man then exited his vehicle and attempted to change the tire; that’s when a passing Mazda sedan fatally struck him.
The victim was rushed to an area hospital, but unfortunately, he could not survive his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The Mazda driver stopped at the scene and helped the victim. The driver also willingly cooperated with authorities.
Drugs and alcohol were not considered factors in the accident. Local authorities are further investigating the case.
