[04-13-2023] Santa Barbara County, CA – Two Individuals Injured After Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 1 near Las Cruces

There were two injuries, one of which was critically injured, in a multi-vehicle collision in Santa Barbara on Thursday morning, April 13, 2023.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) said the collision involving three vehicles occurred at about 5:40 a.m. on Highway 1 southbound.

Santa Barbara County Fire Department, CHP, and other authorities immediately took action. The officials report that two people were injured in the incident, one of whom was transported by Calstar to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in critical condition.

There was no information regarding their name or condition. The CHP temporarily closed Highway 1 in both directions to make helicopter landings possible.

Caltrans reports that the highway reopened at eight in the morning.

The incident is still under investigation.
