According to the city, one person was killed in a two-vehicle car accident in San Luis Obispo early Sunday morning, April 17, 2022.
The police and firefighters both responded just before noon to reports of a two-vehicle car accident near the 3900 block of Broad Street.
The responding officers took an unconscious driver to the hospital, but they died as a result of their injuries.
The name of the deceased has been withheld until the next of kin has been notified.
The occupant of the second vehicle was assessed and released at the scene.
Although the investigation is still ongoing, the city has stated that drugs or alcohol are not believed to have played a role in the crash.
The person who died was not wearing a seatbelt which contributed to the severity of their injuries.
