[04-29-2022] San Diego County, CA - Officer Injured After a Pedestrian Crash Near State Route 76A San Diego police officer was hurt after getting struck by a vehicle on Interstate 5 on Friday morning, April 29, 2022.

According to the initial reports from the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened near State Route 76 at around 6:00 a.m.

The officer was initially helping a 47-year-old semi-truck driver on southbound I-5 after its two tires came off and rolled into the southbound lanes.

The officer tried to help the driver get the tires from the roadway. Unfortunately, the officer was struck by a BMW in the southbound lanes.

The officer sustained minor injuries in the crash. Drugs and alcohol were not seen as factors in the collision.

The California Highway Patrol is further investigating the case.
