According to a California Highway Patrol report, two children were killed when a 14-year-old crashed a 1990 Nissan ZX into a yellow CAT 972G front loader Tuesday, May 10.
The crash occurred around 3:42 p.m. west on James Road, west of Oil Fields Road.
A boy was driving a Nissan west on James Road to avoid a forklift heading south on the north roadway edge of James Road, within a dirt road west of Oil Fields Road.
With three juvenile passengers, a 9-year-old and 10-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl, the Nissan crashed into the bucket of the front loader.
According to the CHP report, the 10-year-old and 11-year-old died at the scene from their injuries.
The 14-year-old and the 9-year-old were transported to Kern Medical for minor injuries.
The forklift driver escaped injury.
Alcohol and drugs do not appear to have played a role in the accident.
Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash Statistics
Many drivers in California aren’t aware that single-vehicle collisions are among the deadliest on the road.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a single-vehicle crash is responsible for 62% of all fatal California car accidents. Many factors contribute to single-vehicle accidents in California, so drivers must keep an eye out for them.
A wide range of factors can cause a single-vehicle accident. This type of accident occurs when a driver loses control of their vehicle while speeding or making sharp turns on a wet and slippery roadway and crashes. Large branches and other objects may become roadside debris as a result of collisions with moving vehicles.
Your insurance policy’s comprehensive coverage may limit your compensation in the event of an accident caused by a deer that ran out in front of your vehicle.
Kern County Car Accident Lawyers
Because of their injuries, many people who have been involved in car accidents are unable to go back to work or school. Negligent drivers can be held responsible for the death of another person, no matter what the circumstances. The family of a victim who died as a result of a negligent driver can file a wrongful death lawsuit against the driver (or legal heirs).
It’s difficult for them to go through the motions of mourning and reliving the events of the past. Victims are compelled to testify about their financial losses in open court as a result of depositions and trials. A person’s mental health can suffer greatly if he or she is involved in a protracted legal battle.
Drivers must be held accountable if they cause an accident. Accountability is critical when a large number of people are killed as a result of someone else’s carelessness. A wrongful death lawsuit may provide some solace to those who have experienced the loss of a loved one. However, the process itself can be draining on one’s spirit. Users of state highways should be happy.
