According to the California Highway Patrol, a person was killed in a fatal train accident in Salida on Wednesday afternoon, May 11, 2022.
According to CHP spokesman Officer Tom Olsen, the accident occurred around 3:00 p.m. near Kiernan Avenue and Salida Boulevard.
It is unknown what the individual was doing on the tracks.
According to Olsen, the Union Pacific Railroad Police will investigate the collision because the tracks did not cross a roadway.
According to the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office, the victim appears to be a male adult, but a positive identification has yet to be made.
There are no other details available.
The accident remains under investigation.
