Two people were hurt following a traffic crash involving a school bus near Corning on Thursday afternoon, May 12, 2022.
The accident happened at approximately 1:46 p.m. at the intersection of South Avenue and Kirkwood Road near Corning.
An Orland Unified School District bus was traveling east on South Avenue when it stopped at the railroad tracks before Kirkwood.
A Honda traveling behind the school bus then stopped and waited behind the bus. The bus then proceeded and turned left onto Kirkwood.
According to authorities, Mitchell immediately approached and drove into the westbound lane of South Avenue, causing the Honda to collide with the back of the bus.
Two people inside the Honda were injured. They were identified as 19-year-old Tyler M. and 21-year-old Angelica C. They were taken to an area hospital for treatment.
At least 26 students were inside the bus at the time of the accident. Fortunately, none of them were injured.
Local authorities are currently investigating the cause of the crash.
